There’s a new face around Valley Christian, and he has already made himself right at home! Born and raised in Youngstown, Resean Yancey attended Chaney High School and later graduated from Youngstown State University. While at YSU, he started out studying business marketing but eventually discovered that communications was a much better fit. He majored in Organizational and Interpersonal Communications and minored in behavioral psychology.

Mr. Yancey’s natural ability to listen, connect with people, and show empathy helped lead him toward a career focused on people and relationships. What really made Valley Christian stand out, however, was the opportunity to openly live out his faith. He was excited to become part of a community where people share a love for Jesus Christ and want to grow in their faith together.

So, how has his first week been? According to Mr. Yancey, it has been great! His position as the new Intermediate Dean of Students has allowed him to interact with students and staff members whom he describes as welcoming, funny, warm, and purposeful.

When he isn’t working, Mr. Yancey enjoys cooking and listening to just about every kind of music, especially gospel, jazz, R&B, and hip-hop. His favorite foods are also hard to beat: either his grandmother’s fried chicken with mac and cheese, greens, and sweet potatoes or his auntie’s homemade chicken pot pies!

Looking toward the future, Mr. Yancey hopes to continue pursuing God, further his education, and positively impact young people through leadership and support. He credits his “other dad,” Mr. Bo Crosby, as one of his greatest inspirations and as someone who has played an important role in shaping who he is today.

We are excited to have Mr. Yancey here and can’t wait to see all that he brings to the Valley Christian community!
