Valley Christian High School is proud to shine this week’s Senior Spotlight on Ashley Gonzalez, a student known for her humor, leadership, and unmistakably great hair—her own pick for a senior superlative.
When asked about her favorite class, Ashley jokingly admits that Spanish tops the list, mostly because, as she puts it, “I take good naps in there.” But beneath the humor is a thoughtful perspective. The biggest lesson she’ll carry with her beyond graduation? “That failure is the beginning of success.”
Ashley has been an active member of Student Council, the extracurricular activity she values most. She credits it with helping her embrace and grow her leadership skills throughout high school.
A few of Ashley’s favorites help paint the picture of who she is:
• Favorite movie: 10 Things I Hate About You
• Favorite teacher: Mrs. Colon
• Dream travel destination: Brazil
• Go-to gas station snack combo: Salt & vinegar chips, Twin Snakes, and Sprite.
If Ashley were a snack herself, she says she’d be a peach ring—“because I’m sweet.” She also shared that her current vocal stim is the iconic Elphaba riff, and she proudly identifies as a morning person.
When it comes to senioritis, Ashley doesn’t hold back: “Yes, I’ve been having it since sophomore year.” And if senior year were a drink? She says it would taste like Nyquil—an honest summary any senior might relate to.
Given the choice between unlimited locker snacks or endless playlist skips, Ashley chooses unlimited snacks without hesitation.
As she prepares for life beyond Valley Christian, Ashley’s blend of humor, honesty, and ambition makes her a memorable member of the Class of 2025. We’re excited to see where her journey takes her next!
