For senior Leannshka Rivera, one of her favorite high school memories is going to Chili’s with friends after her first homecoming. Since her freshman year, she has become increasingly involved at school—especially through Science Club—and also participated in the English Festival.
Journaling and track have both had a meaningful impact on Leannshka’s life. Journaling helps strengthen her memory and supports her mental health, while running has become an activity she genuinely enjoys. Like many students, she faced challenges along the way, including losing motivation in activities she once loved, but she overcame them by surrounding herself with supportive people.
One teacher who made a lasting impact on Leannshka is Ms. Sample, as she feels comfortable being herself in her classroom.
After graduation, Leannshka plans to attend Youngstown State University to study psychology. She hopes her classmates remember her as kind and hardworking. One of her proudest accomplishments is joining the track team for the first time—an experience that pushed her beyond her comfort zone.
Leannshka looks forward to college, reconnecting with familiar faces, and meeting new friends as she begins the next chapter of her life.
