Subjects Taught: ELA I, ELA II, and Creative Writing

Years of Teaching Experience: 14 years total 4 years at Valley Christian School

When asked what it felt like to step into the role of 9th–10th grade English teacher, Mrs. Jackson shared that she felt God had placed her exactly where she was meant to be. That sense of purpose continues to guide her approach to teaching each day.

One of the most important life lessons she hopes to instill in her students is this: “Never take the first ‘no.’ Always ask again and try again.”

This year is especially meaningful for Mrs. Jackson, as the graduating seniors were the very first class she taught at Valley. Watching them grow from freshmen into young adults has been incredibly rewarding. “I am glad to see them moving forward,” she says. “My first 9th grade ELA Honors class set the bar high for those that came after them. I look for them to do great things.”

When reflecting on what makes her most proud, Mrs. Jackson shared a simple but powerful truth: “It makes me feel proud to know that what I do matters.”

For incoming high school students, her advice is both practical and invaluable: “Develop good relationships with your teachers. You may need a recommendation one day.”

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Jackson enjoys crocheting, taking long walks, and reading fiction. Her favorite book—Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe—has stayed with her over the years due to its lasting impact.

Mrs. Jackson traces much of her inspiration to her parents. Her mother, who was also a teacher, and her father, a preacher, both played a significant role in shaping her love for teaching and helping others. When she interviewed at Valley Christian, she felt a deep sense of peace—an assurance that this was exactly where she belonged.

We are grateful for Mrs. Jackson’s dedication, passion, and heart for the students of Valley Christian. She continues to leave a lasting impression on everyone blessed to learn from her.
