Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Spivey

By VCS Junior JaQualyn Wiggins

Q: What are your biggest professional goals for the next 5 years?

A: A goal would be to go back to school to further my knowledge in Biblical studies. My biggest goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Q: What are some challenges you’ve come across that you successfully broke through?

A: Still breaking through a lot of challenges, but I would say starting the second semester, I have a better understanding of things.

Q: What initially drew you to your field, and how has that passion evolved over time?

A: God called me to this job. God told me I would be a Bible teacher, and that started my passion for this job. Now that I am in it, my passion grows as I see bits every time I see a student's relationship or desire for the Lord become stronger.

Q: What’s a valuable lesson you’ve learned from a work experience, good or bad?

A: Every day is a new day and a new opportunity to reset.

Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?

A: I really enjoy dad jokes.

Q: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

A: Do something fun with my kids or relax at home.

Q: How do you handle pressure or tight deadlines? Share your tips for staying calm and focused.

A: For me, I map out when things need to be done and how they need to be done. I think time management is really important for deadlines. When it comes to pressure, I find taking a step back for a moment to collect my thoughts, pray, and breathing helps. Make sure you are not taking on a load you're not supposed to.

Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever collected?

A: I would say one of my favorite things that I collect is pens. I love silly pens.
