Deion Miller is a senior student-athlete who has attended VCS for eight years. He participates in both basketball and football and is recognized as one of the school’s most dedicated leaders.
When asked what inspired him to start playing football, Deion shared that his friends encouraged him to give it a try. Once he realized how much he enjoyed the sport, he committed to it fully and now plans to continue his athletic career in college. Over the years, he has served as the team’s quarterback, leading the offense with confidence and skill.
One of Deion’s favorite high school memories came during the final game of the 2025–26 season. In a heated matchup against East Palestine, he took matters into his own hands and scored a 90-yard touchdown, securing a victory after a long and exhausting season.
As quarterback, Deion enjoys being the playmaker. With the ball in his hands on every offensive possession, he embraces the responsibility and the opportunity to make big plays for his team.
Although he has not yet decided which college he will attend, Deion has begun the recruitment process. He describes it as both stressful and nerve-wracking, but ultimately rewarding. While some schools did not respond, many showed interest, and he has even turned down a few opportunities.
When offering advice to underclassmen, Deion emphasizes that every play matters and should never be taken for granted. He believes that hard work truly pays off and that the effort put in outside of practice determines the kind of athlete a person becomes.
Football has taught Deion that nothing in life comes easy. “You have to have determination and dedication in whatever you choose to do,” he says.
Deion will miss playing football and basketball alongside his teammates and coaches, many of whom he considers his closest friends. He hopes to be remembered as a leader both on and off the field and court. With strong support from his mom and sister, he credits his family for helping shape him into the leader he is today.
During his career, Deion faced adversity, including losing several teammates in the middle of the football season due to poor decisions. As a quarterback, this was one of the most difficult challenges he had to overcome. Despite it all, he carries no regrets and values the lessons he has learned.
Looking ahead, Deion expects the college level to bring a faster, more competitive game. He is also excited to meet new people and experience a new environment as he continues his journey.
