Overview
Valley Christian School (VCS) is committed to providing uninterrupted learning for our students even during days when school must close. For this reason, VCS has developed an online learning day plan. Ohio state law specifies the circumstances for which an online day can be enacted and allows for up to three school days to be conducted using the guidelines outlined in this plan. Examples of potential school closures that can be replaced by an online day include:
Disease epidemic
Hazardous weather conditions
Law enforcement emergencies
Inoperability of school buses or other equipment necessary to the school's operation
Damage to a school building
Other temporary circumstances due to utility failure rendering the school building unfit for use.
VCS may enact the online learning day plan when there is a reasonable expectation that there will be an unexpected closure for three or more consecutive days or if school has been closed for ten total days.
Notification of an Online Learning Day
If VCS implements an online learning day, parents and guardians will be promptly notified through parent alerts and social media platforms.
The following expectations will be in place for students, parents and guardians, teachers, and administrators.
Student Expectations
Students in Grades K-2 are Expected to:
For consecutive days missed, students are expected to view lessons from teachers posted on YouTube.
