VCS News: 2025 NFL Draft Recap

By VCS Senior Jymier Burrage

The 2025 NFL Draft was one to remember. It was one of the best drafts in recent memory with lots of surprises and team trades. Here are my picks for the top five teams who really made out from this year’s draft.

1. New York Giants

The Giants made a bold move by selecting quarterback Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss at No. 25 instead of Shedeur Sanders. In addition to Dart, they boosted their defense with edge rusher Abdul Carter from Penn State at No. 3 overall. Carter's versatility and pass-rush power were key factors in the Giants' decision. They also drafted running back Cam Skattebo on day 3 to increase their running back room.

2. Tennessee Titans

The Titans started the draft by selecting quarterback Cam Ward from Miami with the first overall pick. Ward's impressive college career made him a standout choice. His selection marks a new era for the Titans as they look to build around their promising young quarterback.

3. New England Patriots

The Patriots addressed a critical need on their offensive line by selecting left tackle Will Campbell from LSU with the fourth overall pick. Campbell's consistency and strength in both pass protection and run blocking were pivotal in the Patriots' decision. His addition aims to fortify the offensive front and provide better protection for their quarterback. They also acquired running back Treyvon Henderson from Ohio State.

4. Cleveland Browns

The Browns focused on securing a stronger offense, selecting Shedeur Sanders from Colorado. They also selected Mason Graham DT from Michigan, Harold Fennin Jr TE from Bowling Green State University. Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins, and Oregon’s QB Dillion Gabriel. These additions add a lot of firepower to the offense.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars made a strategic move by trading up to the No. 2 spot to select wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter from Colorado. Hunter's dual-threat capability as both a cornerback and wide receiver adds significant versatility to the Jaguars' roster. His selection reflects the team's focus on enhancing their defensive backfield and overall team dynamics.
